Panasonic NI-C78SR Steam/Dry Iron 1200 Watts with Stainless-Steel Soleplate

Panasonic NI-C78SR Steam/Dry Iron works just fine! I really like the stainless steel plate. This is the second Panasonic steam/dry iron I've had. The previous one lasted 8 years! I love the sealed flip up cap for water.

Light enough to be used without pain, retractable cord a plus. I have used many irons in my life but have not liked any as well as I like this iron. It has a removable water reserve which makes emptying it very easy. I never get spots on my clothes from a water tank too full. It irons great for all types of fabrics.
  • Stainless Steel "Curved" soleplate that trap pockets of air between the soleplate and the fabric. The iron glides smoothly and effortlessly for crease-free results
  • 1200 Watts that also includes Dial Temperature Control and a "Adjustable Steam" feature depending on the fabric that is being ironed. 5 2/5 oz "Detachable" Water Tank
  • Jet-of-Steam / Self Cleaning feature for cleaning the unit and for a quick burst of steam for those stubborn wrinkles. Vertical Steam for additional ironing position without the ironing board
  • Dimensions: 5 5/16" (H) x 4 5/16" (W) x 10 7/16" (D), 3 lbs. White w/clear Green water tank
  • Panasonic's innovative mercury-free sensor gives you added security by automatically shutting the iron off after 10 minutes if left in the upright position and 1 minute if left unmoved on its soleplate or if tipped over on its side. That is "3-way" protection
Panasonic NI-C78SR Steam/Dry Iron heats as much as you could imagine. I like the iron to be little heavy so that cotton shirts can also be ironed and they look ironed :) this iron is heavy enough but not too heavy - you still have to go to gym. the sole plate looks good.

Control knob is good, you can set it based on fabric. Steam is amazing - best steam iron I used till date. the water tank for steam is removable - sometime I feel there should have been an option to fill in iron itself rather than taking tank out - it helps when you are ironing and water finishes.

This iron also produces a LOT of continuous steam on the high-steam setting, which is great. If you're concerned about the bright green color of the stock product photo, you'll be pleased that in person it is much darker.

Cons: There is no safety light to indicate that the unit is on. This is a major flaw in the design. There is an LED that shows when the iron is currently heating, but once it reaches the desired temperature, the light shuts off and there is no further visual indication that the unit is on until it needs to re-heat.

Overall, I am very pleased with this Panasonic NI-C78SR Steam/Dry Iron. As I mentioned earlier, it's the best iron I've ever owned as far as performance, but the two issues that I mentioned keep it from receiving a perfect rating. This Panasonic NI-C78SR Steam/Dry Iron 1200 Watts with Stainless-Steel Soleplate product earned 556 customer reviews and 84% are satisfied (as 24/02/2014).
